the founders

MARIA

Maria was raised in the DC Metro Area, with the stereotypical “Inside The Beltway” upbringing designed to produce Future World Leaders™. To everyone’s dismay, she married a literal cowboy, and now spends the majority of her days in the woods with two free-spirited children.

Her greatest loves are Beauty and Philosophy, and her many, eccentric pursuits can best be understood as a quest to uncover the deepest patterns and relationships at the heart of reality. She has channeled this obsession into two main projects: 1) a Grand Unifying Theory of Everything that combines body typing/style systems with personality typology and archetypes and 2) an original synthesis of Waldorf and Classical Homeschooling methods, prioritizing poetic knowledge and aiming towards true schole.

Maria maintains a primarily offline existence; she deleted her social media accounts over 10 years ago and instead makes the effort to host and be hosted. The Salonniere truly is her guiding image of bringing people together for genuine connection and creation.

Georgina

Georgina beta-tested the Gossip Girl lifestyle during the mid 2000s, but still enjoys all NYC has to offer. This doesn't stop her from critiquing most of the Manhattan's served in Brooklyn, or wishing she had a federally-protected meadow with peacocks in place of her front “yard.” When she’s not waiting for a direct international flight, you can find her in the treasure room at the Cloisters, being assaulted by babushkas at the banya, or people-watching from a comfortable corner in her favorite bar.

Georgina is passionate about minimalist, data-driven skincare, and aging gracefully but with plenty of help. Fashion-forward, she flaunts 20% more mascara than is on trend, but is confident it will come back in style.

She appreciates Marxist theory sans Marxist politics, and making a hobby of applying her credentials in critical theory to Twitter discourse, celebrity gossip, and multi-camera sitcoms. She also refuses to call anything 'x'.
